The water mill stood near the present-day Park Štefana Moysesa, next to the bishop's castle. The first mention of the mill is found in a document from 1470, and its origins are linked to the merchant Stanko Vilhelmovič from Kremnica.

In 1777, the mill was rebuilt in the Baroque style, with this date also engraved on its facade. In addition to the mill's technical section and the miller's apartment, it also included two stables and a large garden. The mill remained in use and operational into the 20th century. In 1950, it was transferred to state ownership. In 1990, it was destroyed by fire, intentionally set by a 19-year-old resident of Žiar nad Hronom, and was subsequently demolished.
